Womanizer, the latest single from Britney Spears, will hit radio stations on September 22. Less than 3 months later, on December 2, Britney Spears’ new album, entitled Circus, will also hit stores.

Britney Spears recently won 3 awards at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and appears to be getting back on track with her life. Time will tell how much she has really changed. Let’s hope this is all a good sign that she is really getting her life back on track and won’t be making tabloid headlines again.

There are also rumors circulating that Britney will be performing live in Vegas on New Year’s eve,, launching a new world tour.

Most of this is just rumor and speculation right now and only time will tell how much of it will become reality.

In the meantime, though, Britney continues to work on recording that new album and doing things right.

By the way, if you want to get the new Britney Spears song and album without having to run to the store, check it out on Rhapsody. The new single and the album, Circus, will be available on Rhapsody for listening and downloading before stores even open and make it available on their shelves.

Have you ever stopped and counted how much money you spend on music?

CDs aren’t cheap. They range in price from around $10 if you get a really good deal, to upwards of $20 if you buy a multi-CD album. This can get expensive in a hurry if you buy more than one or two CDs per month!

On the average, most people will be at least one CD every month, with real music lovers grabbing several per month without even batting an eye or thing twice about it.

So… how much does this add up to?? Let’s take a look and see. You might be surprised.

If you buy two CDs per month, at $12.99 each, you will spend $25.98 per month, plus sales tax. So you’re spending about $28 each and every month on CDs, if you buy only two per month. At the end of a year you will have spent about $335 on those CDs.

So now you have added about 24 or 25 CDs to your collection and spent over $300 to do it.

At the end of the year, how many of the CDs that you bought at the beginning of the year will you still be listening to? It’s pretty rare that we will still be listening to a CD after it’s a  year old, because we will have bought so many other, newer CDs. So we spent money on CDs that we no longer listen to.

Now, let’s take a look at music subscription services and how much they cost, in comparison.

The two leaders in the music subscription world, Rhapsody and Napster, cost about $12.99 per month for  the standard versions and about $14.99 per month for the “To Go” versions. So lets do some math.
At $14.99 per month for the “To Go” versions, the annual cost will only be $179.88. And guess what… you won’t be stuck listening to music that’s old or outdated all the time. With music subscription services you always have access to the newest music, as well as the favorite, older songs.

Remember, with music subscription services, you get unlimited access to millions of songs, not just a few hundred or even a few thousand.

So if the economic pinch has you cutting back on the number of CDs you buy, give a music subscription service a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much value they offer. :)
